What are you really paying to take cards?

Two numbers from your processing statement give you your effective rate: the one number that captures every fee. Then see the same month at our published rates, side by side, including when your current deal is the better one.

From your last statement

Add every fee: percentage, per-transaction, monthly, statement, PCI and equipment fees. It is usually on a summary page.

The example numbers are made up. Replace them with yours; nothing is saved or sent until you ask us to.

Common questions

What is an effective rate?

Your total processing fees divided by your total card sales for the same period. It rolls every percentage, per-transaction, monthly and statement fee into one number you can compare from one month to the next and between providers.

Where do I find my total fees and card sales?

Most processing statements have a summary on the first page with total card volume (sales) and total fees. If fees are spread across pages, add every line: discount or percentage fees, per-transaction fees, monthly service, statement, PCI and equipment fees.

Is a lower quoted rate always cheaper?

No. A lower percentage with higher per-transaction or monthly fees can cost more, especially at small ticket sizes. That's why the effective rate, not the quoted rate, is the number to compare.

How does the comparison work?

It applies Swipe Savvy's published card-present and keyed rates to your volume and transaction count. It covers processing only; the plan's monthly subscription is listed separately. It is an estimate, not a quote, and if your current deal is cheaper the calculator says so.
